Hey there, thanks for downloading my first ever Winamp
skin – WACKAMP. You've obviously got some good taste :).
= Intro =
When I made this skin, I wanted it to look real original. It seems
like it really looks different from other skins, at least I've never
seen a skin that makes the three winamp windows into one.
This is my first ever skin, it was made from scratch in
Photoshop 5.5. Nothing here is borrowed from other skins. The skin
incudes everything that needs to be skinned, that is:
Main window, EQ, PL, MB, all the winshades AND the minibrowser
start page.
It was pretty much inspired by the music of Fatboy Slim, Beastie
Boys, and Beck.
= MB Start Page Installation =
This skin includes a start page for the MB. To install it, simply
unzip it to your Winamp folder.
= Tools Used =
Skinner – just for cutting out the skin images so that I don't
have to make them myself
Photoshop 5.5 – for all the work on gfx
Viseditor and Notepad – for the viscolor.txt and pledit.txt
= System Requirements =
The skin will should look good in any res. Use at least 16 bit color
depth so that the will look properly.
= Important Notes =
Please keep in mind that the skin requires vertical alignment of
Winamp components:
Main Window
Equalizer
Playlist
This is because the skin was designed to make these three components
into one big window. This is the only limitation, you still can
freely resize the playlist (however, only vertically). There are no
limitations regarding the winshade modes.
Also to make this skin look better please use the following
vis options:
Analyzer options: normal style, peaks on, thick bands
Winshade VU options: Smooth VU
= N.A.Q. (Never Asked Questions) =
Q: Why does the skin look crap in layouts different from the
Main/EQ/PL vertical layout?
A: Beacuse it is designed for the Main/EQ/PL vertical layout, dummy!
I warned you that it will look crap in other layouts :P (see
Important Notes in this file).
Q: Why did you choose this layout while designing the skin?
A: Because it's the most used layout so far (anyway you wouldn't
use some stupid layout like PL/EQ/Main, would you?).
Q: Will there be any new versions of WACKAMP?
A: I don't think so. I don't want to be repetitive, and I'll better
make some other skins instead. But if people will request a
revised version with some improvements, then I'll do it.
Q: Why do I see 'click me' instead of the EQ/PL buttons in the
main window?
A: Because (once again) this skin is designed for the Main/EQ/PL
vertical layout. And if you see 'click me' this means that either
the EQ or the PL isn't on, and without these components the skin
will just look incomplete. This, however doesn't regard the
winshade mode.
Q: May I borrow something from your skin?
A: NO. And don't even email me, 'cause I won't give you the
permission anyway. Only dummies with low self-respect and little
imagination borrow elements of other skins :P. Be original!
Q: Why did you call your skin WACKAMP?
A: I don't know :P.
Q: Why is this secton called Never Asked Questions?
A: Because nobody ever asked me these questions :).
Q: Why am I still reading this crap?
A: I don't know, I guess you should ask that yourself :).
