Third, many of you seem to have a bit of a problem in getting the skins to work properly, right ? Well, to cope with that I'll go into the unzipping and putting things in the right directory and get them inside Winamp where it has to do its work. Wanna read that ?

Finally, to deal with the most frequent question I got, (How do I make my own Winamp skin ?) I've come up with the ultimate link out there. This explains it all. Wanna see that ?

Not everybody is a net addict. And not everybody spends as much time on the net as I do. So, it is possible, just slightly possible, that some of you are wondering:
What in the hell is a 'WinAmp skin' ?

To explain this a bit, I'll let you in on a little secret. Just between you and me. Have you heard about MP3 yet ? You have....? Well, Those digital MP3 audio files are a huge trend nowadays, especially on the internet. Why, you ask ? Well, for one, it's a very easy and cheap way to get digital quality audio files of all the latest hits ! That's why !

Anyway....To play those MP3 files, you have to have a player, right ? Since Micro$oft does have one that sux, there had to be an alternative. And there is ! WinAmp ! WinAmp is THE MP3 player of this moment. By the way, wanna have it ? Click here !

So, having said that, you now know what WinAmp is for.
Now, about the skins. What do THEY do ? Well, skins are sets of different layout/designs you can alter your WinAmp appearance with. You can even design your own audio set ! But that is not so easy as it sounds.

Being a huge Michael Jackson fan, I joined the Michael Jackson Internet Fan Club (http://www.mjifc.com) in September 1997 (as soon as I got to university, and thus got Internet access). Since the day that I joined, I enjoyed the great, friendly, family-like atmosphere in the club. In December 1998, I started making WinAmp skins. The club was so kind to put them on "our" download-page at http://www.mjifc.com/download.html . Now I created the MJIFC skin, to honor and thank the club for its existence, the hard work and huge amount of time that the board is putting into running this club and, of course, Michael Jackson for sharing his music and talent with us. I hope you like the MJIFC skin.

So...... you actually wanna USE my skin, huh ? In fact, getting those things to work is really not that hard. Let me explain this a bit. Listen up: There are two ways to install it. The first one is to just copy the zip file to your WinAmp/skins directory. That's it. Start up WinAmp, press Alt+S and select the skin.

If you cannot find the skin in the skin dialogue box, try the second method: The first thing you've got to do is unzip the zip file. Unzipping is one, but to unzip them in the right directory, that's where most problems are appearing. Therefore, I told Winzip to help you, and here's how: Simply open up Winzip and  then open the MJIFC.zip file. Tell Winzip where your Winamp directory is (e.g. C:/Program Files/Winamp). Now click on the extract button. Now all the files in MJIFC.zip will go to WinAmp/skin/MJIFC.

When all that is done you're almost home. The only thing you have to do to see your fresh, new, crispy skin is to start up WinAmp and hit Alt+S (or select: [options] [skinsbrowser]) and pick one out of the menu........
That's all there is to it !

Ok, you've asked for it. And now you're going to get it ! All of it ! A great number of people wanted me to tell them how they would make their own WinAmp skin. Or what requirements the skins have. Well, to show you I really am a nice guy, I strawled the net for days and days in a row (ok, it was 5 minutes of work), and finally I've come up with THE link that explains it all. From WinAmp themselves, for crying out loud ! Here it is WinAmp Skin making tutorial v. 0.01
